Telangana March to Gandhi Statue in San Francisco, USA

In support of Telangana Million March in Telangana (Hyderabad) of India on 10th March 2011, BayArea Telanganites have gathered together for solidarity Telangana March to Gandhi Statue at historic Embarcadero Street of San Francisco on 6th March Sunday 2011.
While Pacific Coast of San Francisco weather was not very conductive to such rally with heavy rains on Sunday but about 200 Telangana NRI has joined the rally in such rain in the support of continuous struggle to achieve long standing demerger of Telangana to its pre-1956 status for a self rule from United Andhra Pradesh.

The rally continued for 30 minutes covering embarcadecaro street and ferry building through market street before submitting a memorandum to famous Gandhi statue to remind him that his famous non-cooperation movement weapon has been embraced by Telangana employees, teachers, officers, students, youth and in-general public to remind the administration that the time has come to move on from current state of affairs.

The speakers reminded the Gandhi’s non-cooperation movement has been adopted at nook and corner of the India during Indian independence movement and motivated public to rally behind local leaders to straighten the urge to weed out British anarchy from India. Similarly they urged the public to rally behind liked minded local leaders who are taking active role in the movement to straighten the demerger struggle therefore the deaf ears of AP and Indian Federal can be opened to the voice of Telangana public.
The speakers at the occasion have reminded current Andhra Pradesh administration and Indian government to heed out to non-cooperation movement struggle and immediately introduce Telangana demerger legislation in the Parliament to free up Telangana from much needed self respect and freedom from imperialistic United Andhra ruling class.

The speakers also called for active participation by all Telangana public to represent at Telangana Million March to let the world know, in the era of democracy, public opinion is final not the will power of few aristocrats and power brokers under the name of free trade and capital market.

The speakers also urged the public to maintain peace throughout Million March and boycott all the political leaders who are not actively participating in non-cooperation movement and be alongside public opinion. The speakers felt that the movement reached its crescendo, called that we are not against Andhra people rather we welcome all of them to come and invest more in the Telangana while respecting self rule of Telangana.

The crowd chanted many slogans in the rally such as “Jai Telangana”, “We _will_ achieve Telangana” and “Million March Dakka -- Telangana Pakka”, the attracted variety of the localities and Americans in San Francisco and they have inquired about the struggle back at home and very delighted to learn that folks are practicing non cooperation movement methods in India to receive internal self rule within India. Few of localities have joined the rally in support of demerger of Telangana.

The rally has been organized by Bay Area Telanganites, Northern California and lasted for 2 hours and they have promised that they will continue the overseas awareness programs. They have promised that they will organize an upcoming 5k run with blind-folds to remind the AP and Indian government that their eyes shut up to recognize the plight of the Telangana public in the democracy and local Telangana cultural programs. They have promised that they will support Telangana public with future strategies and non-government projects to develop the Telangana region.

Jai Bholo Telangana in Bay Area

     The much awaited movie of season "Jai Bholo Telangana" is coming into theatres worldwide on Friday (24th Feb, 2011). This movie is first of its kind in the history of Indian Cinema is directed by sensational director N. Shanker who has given blockbusters like Jayam Manadera, Sri Ramulayya & Encounter in the past. Music scored by Chakri has already become a sensational hit.
This film portrays real life situation in the current state of Andhra Pradesh. This has actors who are real life leaders like Deshapati Srinivas, Mallepalli Laxmiah, Gaddar, KCR, professors, activists, students, singers, lawyers, journalists & people from all professions.

Update on 02/10/2011: The JBT screening was a great hit in bay area. Around 450-500 audience watched the move in 3 days. Initially, the ticket price was $10.00, and the price rasied to $12.00, because of advance bookings in groups. It was like a celebrations, 'BayArea Telanganites' served snacks on first day of the show.

'Telangana Janapadalu ' in BayArea

 
BayArea Telanganites, Northern California have organized “Telangana Janapadalu” on June 12, 2010, and was a grand success. 

The event was weaved around Telangana folk culture and the biographies of Telangana scholars and poets including Dasarathi, Suravaram Pratapa Reddy, Gaddar, Dr. Andesri, Gooda Anjanna, Suddala Hanumantu, and Bandi Yadagiri. The famous Telangana folk-singer Sivanagulu from India stood as the main attraction.

Bay-area Telanganites also provided opportunities to local artists to groom their talent. Local NRI artists performed “Ganapathi stotram”, “Jaya Jayahe Telangana”, Kuchipudi dance, “Yela Yela Yela Yela”, “Laloo darwaja lashkar”, ideasOnEmail comedy skit, and a guitar play. In the beginning and during the dinner break, videos and slide shows on Telangana folk culture, and heritage were displayed.
Auditorium was decorated with huge posters of Telangana festivals and prominent historic places. Event organizers commitment to the program theme was commendable; they took every opportunity to highlight the Telangana folk culture.

Audience thoroughly enjoyed the show and echoed their joy with rhythmic dances and clapping. The background dancers in colorful dresses gave an extra kick to those songs. Some of the songs like “Mayadari Mysamma” and “Kodibaye lachammadi” elevated the energy level of audience to the peak, everyone in the auditorium danced on the floor and also on the stage.
BayArea Telanganites representatives awarded Mementoes to Sivanagulu and the child artists who participated in the show and closed it with vote of thanks, thanking sponsors and everyone who made the event a great success.
